SwipeByte (“we”) makes the SwipeByte app and this website. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run it, and how you can delete your data. In short: we collect only what the app needs to work and to get better, we never sell it, and there are no advertising trackers in the app.
What we collect
Your account
- As a guest: the app creates an anonymous account with a random ID. No name or email.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo from Google, so you can use the same account on any phone.
How you use your deck
- The interests you pick, your reminder time and your timezone.
- Which cards you like, save or skip, the cards you open (and from which screen), the decks you finish, and your streak.
- Topic scores we work out from your swipes, so your deck matches what you’re into.
Usage statistics
- For each visit: when it started, how long it lasted, how many times each screen was viewed and which features were used (for example “shared streak”), plus your phone’s platform and the app version. These are tied to a random ID made for each install, not to your name. We never record what you type, except feedback you choose to send.
Feedback
- Messages you send from Settings, with the app version and platform.
What we don’t collect
- Your location, contacts, photos or advertising ID. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, and the home screen widget reads data stored on your phone.
Why we use it
- To run the app: build your daily deck, keep your Vault and streak, and send the reminders you turned on.
- To personalise your deck and the For You, News and Explore screens.
- To understand, in aggregate, which features and kinds of cards people find useful, and to fix problems.
- Sponsored cards: some decks include one card marked “Sponsored”. We count how many people saw, opened, tapped, liked, saved or skipped it, and share only those totals with the sponsor. Sponsors never get your name, email or activity. Your swipes on sponsored cards never change what we show you.
Who helps us run SwipeByte
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in.
- Google provides “Continue with Google”.
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Google Gemini helps write the card summaries from public articles and projects. It never receives anything about you.
These providers process data on our behalf and may store it outside your country. We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.
How long we keep it
- Guest accounts that haven’t been used for 30 days are deleted automatically, with their swipes, saves and streak.
- Signed-in accounts are kept until you delete them.
- When an account is deleted, its usage statistics (including which cards were opened) and any feedback you sent are kept only with the link to the account removed, so they can no longer identify you.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time in the app: Settings → Delete account and data. Other ways are on the account deletion page.
- Turn reminders on or off in Settings, or in your phone’s notification settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing hello@swipebyte.app.
Children
SwipeByte is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you’re under 18, please use it with a parent’s or guardian’s permission where your local law requires it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and each person can only reach their own data through the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
